The HEART at Head Start Study

With funding from the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), researchers at Tufts University are leading a study to explore ways to support the health and wellness goals of Head Start Early Childhood Educators (ECE). HEART at Head Start is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) conducted in partnership with the National Head Start Association (NHSA), focusing on three key areas: healthy eating, physical activity, and relaxation/sleep. Participants will set personal wellness goals and work toward them with support from a Guide and resources like the Wellable app. Findings from this study may shape the design of future health and wellness programs for educators locally and nationally, influencing guidance, center policies, and NHSA recommendations.
