Active Schools Acceleration Project (ASAP) aimed to increased quality physical activity in schools to promote active living and associated positive behavioral and academic outcomes.
Healthy Kids Out of School (HKOS) worked with a variety of youth–serving organizations to implement healthy eating and physical activity principles in out–of–school–time programs.
ChildObesity180 supported PE teachers, classroom educators, after-school program staff, and parents in starting free walking/running clubs at schools and community centers across Boston.
The Restaurant Initiative aimed to reduce children’s excess calorie consumption in restaurants. ChildObesity180 focused a spotlight on the role restaurants can play in addressing childhood obesity.
This research aimed to improve the quality of early childhood teaching and learning around physical literacy and essential movement skills to provide a foundation for lifelong physical activity.
ChildObesity180 evaluated the Partnership for a Healthier America’s Healthier Campus Initiative, which partnered with colleges and universities across the US to create campus environments that encourage and support greater physical activity and healthier eating habits.
This project helped six US grantee communities to implement whole school, whole community, whole child initiatives to support child health. In collaboration with other national partner organizations, ChildObesity180 helped to select grantees and provided guidance for using evidence-based approaches to equitably promote children’s health.
ChildObesity180 faculty partnered with faculty at the Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine to develop an intervention leveraging child-pet relationships to increase physical activity and health of both children and their dogs.
