Angélica Valdés Valderrama, a doctoral student at ChildObesity180 within the Friedman school of Nutrition Science an Policy at Tufts University, was one of sixteen students selected to participate in the Yale Ciencia Academy for Career Development (YCA) as a fellow. The YCA is a highly competitive year-long program that equips biomedical or health sciences doctoral students from underrepresented backgrounds with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to land post-PhD positions. Over the next year, Angélica will become part of a supportive peer community, develop career planning, mentoring, and scientific and interpersonal communication skills/products, and build a network of role models from diverse backgrounds.
